NOVEMBER AS READING MONTH

READING is a vital way to make a child successful in his/her life in the future. That’s why the skills in doing it should be developed to the child early so that learning will take place easily. Thus, the success of his/her life will surely be achieved.
November is a reading month. This is the time when everyone is reminded about the benefits of acquiring the reading skills. This time of modernization has brought on increasing demand for reading literacy but schools are hard pressed to meet this demand due to lack of sufficient ability in reading of the learners. This can definitely impair a person’s function in the modern society, so it must be remedied at once.
In lieu to this, last November 27, 2014, Romblon East Central School ( RECS ) joined the whole Philippines in celebrating the National Reading Month with the theme “ Nasa Pagbasa ang Pag-asa “. A simultaneous interactive reading activities were conducted in every classroom from Kindergarten to Grade VI under the supervision of the three (3) undersigned Master teachers of the said school. All teachers facilitated the one hour reading activity in their own classroom. Knowledgeable persons like Mrs. Carmelita F. Tejada, a retired teacher of this institution, Mrs. Orpha Mutia Dayalo, a parent, and Mrs. Laarni Rada, a government employee, were invited by some of the teachers to do the story telling with varied activities. Afterwards some pupils served as mentors to those non - readers.
The reading program and activities help the students to attain love for reading and further develop their communication skills. In our school ( Romblon East Central School ) we have a year-round program wherein every Friday we are conducting a Reading Enhancement Program and every Saturday an Enrichment Class for the fast pupils and Remedial Reading Class for slow and non - readers
